Your pain is a summons.
"Wake up" it calls out.
"Wake up".
Not because you need to get to school or to work,
not because it is time for prayer and you need to get to the synagogue ASAP.
"Wake up" it calls,
"because your soul is waiting to be — in all its true glory.”
“Wake up,
because your body is here for a reason, with a purpose
and it wants to show up.”
“Wake up
because both your body and your soul want to be,
to show up true to their purpose
true to the reason for their being.
They want to shine and to share the gift that they are with the world"
But . . .
showing up for real
genuinely, fully, without hiding, without holding back,
showing up with confidence and pride
because every part of who you are is sacred
every part has purpose
every detail hand-crafted by G-d,
and because no part of you deserves to be ashamed of;
showing up like that
is a lot.
Showing up genuinely and fully without holding back
requires profound courage.
And sometimes
when you have so much to offer
unique vibrant beauty, rich with depth and meaning,
to share it genuinely and fully without holding back
can be terrifying;
the courage that would take, can be
too much.
But then,
when the world can no longer wait for your gifts to be shared,
when the Creator can no longer watch your body and your soul go unnoticed in the shadows,
your truth and your gifts unrealized,
when G-d can no longer wait to see your light shine forth and illuminate the world,
then . . .
then the summons arrives.
Then comes the pain,
deep and existential
too excruciating to ignore.
A summons, brutal and loud
impossible not to hear.
Because the world can no longer wait for your gifts to be shared.
The Creator can no longer watch your body and your soul go unnoticed in the shadows,
your truth and your gifts unrealized.
G-d can no longer wait to see your light shine forth and illuminate the world.
No one else receives your summons.
No one else knows your pain.
Your pain is your own.
It is your personal invitation
handwritten by your Father in Heaven
addressed personally to your soul.
It calls on every part of you to step — fully and proudly
into the journey that has been waiting since the moment of your first breath.
It demands that you share your gifts with the world,
that you realize everything you were created to be.
Your pain is a summons
it is an invitation.
It is your Creator calling on you to step into power
with humility and courage and strength and dignity
to face everything that comes with being — fully, genuinely, and shamelessly.
It is your Father in Heaven telling you loudly and clearly
that the time has come for your gifts to be shared with the world.
The time has come for your body and your soul to step out into the light,
for your truth and your gifts to be realized.
The time has come for your light shine forth and illuminate the world.
Your time has come.

How did you hide being a poet, while you teach those sweet ba'al tshuva girls at Machon? And the not-so-sweet and young ones listening in via Facebook?
I will share this in my Jewish Women Writers, Poets, and Journalers group...thank you!
